Statistics on prices of dwellings in housing companies have been revised

The statistics on prices of dwellings in housing companies have been revised. The revision concerns monthly and quarterly statistics on old dwellings in housing companies. In connection with the revision, the statistical model used in the index calculations, price review procedures, weight structure and classifications have been updated. The new base year of the statistics is 2015.

Retrospective time series starting from 2015 have been produced for both the monthly and quarterly indices based on the new calculation method. These series differ to some extent from the previously published indices for the respective time periods. Differences occur particularly in areas where the number of observations is low. For the whole country, the differences are small.

In future, annual data on indices, prices per square metre and numbers will be published in separate PX-Web tables, while they were previously included in the same table with quarterly data. As a result of the change, all PX-Web tables of prices of dwellings in housing companies are machine readable.

As new data in the quarterly statistics, price indices are published for Järvenpää, Kerava, Hyvinkää and Riihimäki.

In addition to the statistics, there is a review of the housing markets including recent data on the production, prices and rents of dwellings.
