Building costs rose by 2.6 per cent in December

Building costs were 2.6 per cent higher in December 2010 than in December 2009. Labour costs in construction rose by 0.7 per cent and prices of materials by 3.9 per cent in the year. Those of other inputs rose by 1.9 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From November to December, the total index rose by 0.3 per cent. The prices for labour rose by 0.3 per cent, the prices of materials by 0.2 per cent and the prices for those of other inputs by 0.6 per cent.

The Building Cost Index will be released with the new base year 2010 on 17 February 2011. The contents of the publication will change but the main index series from earlier base years will be continued.
