Costs of civil engineering decreased by 0.1 per cent in August 2024 year-on-year

According to Statistics Finland, the costs of civil engineering decreased by 0.1 per cent in August 2024 compared with the previous year’s corresponding period. The annual change in costs varied by sub-index from 0.8 per cent for earth structures to -2.2 per cent for municipal engineering systems.

  • Examined by cost factor in August 2024, the biggest cost increase from one year ago occurred in the costs of purchased machine services (3.4%).
  • Examined by cost factor, costs fell the most in a year in the cost of own machinery (-2.7%).
  • Examined by cost factor in materials, costs decreased most per year in plastic products (-8.9%) and cement and concrete products (-6.0%).
  • The total index rose by 0.1 per cent from the month before.
