Industrial output grew in May 2024 from the month before but fell from the previous year
Seasonally adjusted industrial output (TOL BCD) grew by 1.2 per cent in May from the month before. According to Statistics Finland, industrial output adjusted for working days decreased by 5.3 per cent compared to the previous year.

Changes in the main industries minor compared to the previous month
Adjusted for working days, output in manufacturing (C) declined by 4.8 per cent in May from one year earlier. Output increased by 0.7 per cent from the month before.
Among the main industries examined in the chart, industrial output grew most in the forest industry, where output increased by 6.3 per cent compared to April. Output in the metal industry increased by 2.3 per cent and output in the food industry by 2.0 per cent from the previous month. Output fell most in mining and quarrying (-7.7%) and the chemical industry (-5.3%). Output also declined in the electrical and electronics industry in May, it went down by 1.9 per cent compared to the previous month.
