Turnover in motor vehicle trade continued to fall 

Among the industries of trade, working day adjusted turnover in motor vehicle trade fell by 3.5 per cent in May from one year ago. The working day adjusted volume of sales in motor vehicle trade fell by 3.4 per cent from May 2023. 

Working day adjusted turnover in the trade industry with the biggest turnover, wholesale trade, decreased in May by 2.1 per cent and sales volume by 3.6 per cent year-on-year.

In retail trade, working day adjusted turnover went down by 1.0 per cent and sales volume by 0.8 per cent in May. Turnover in the retail trade of cultural and recreation goods decreased by 3.0 per cent and sales volume by 2.2 per cent in May from the year before.

Seasonally adjusted turnover grew compared to April

Seasonally adjusted turnover in total trade increased by 0.8 per cent in May compared to April. Seasonally adjusted sales volume went up by 0.6 per cent. In April, seasonally adjusted turnover decreased by 0.4 per cent and sales volume by 0.6 per cent from one month back.
