Students in preparatory education for a skills examination number 78,200 in 2008

According to Statistics Finland, 78,200 students participated in preparatory education for a skills examination during calendar year 2008.

The number of students was around one per cent up on the previous year. Forty-four per cent of the students attended training for an initial vocational qualification, 47 per cent for a further vocational qualification and 9 per cent for a specialist vocational qualification. Fifty-seven per cent of the students were women.

New students numbered 38,800. Of the students, 17,800 completed an entire qualification. Of the completed qualifications, 38 per cent were initial vocational qualifications, 52 per cent further vocational qualifications and 10 per cent specialist vocational qualifications. Sixty-two per cent of the qualifiers were women.

These data have been collected from educational institutions. Apprenticeship training is not included in these data.
