1. Prices of old dwellings in blocks of flats rose slightly in Greater Helsinki in October to December period

According to preliminary data, the prices of old dwellings in blocks of flats remained unchanged in the whole country compared to the third quarter of 2012. In Greater Helsinki, prices went up by 0.4 per cent, but in the rest of Finland they went down by 0.4 per cent. Compared with the corresponding quarter of 2011, prices rose by 4.3 per cent in the whole country. In Greater Helsinki, prices went up by 4.7 per cent and in the rest of the country by 3.8 per cent.

Viewed by type of apartment, in the last quarter of 2012 prices of one-room flats increased in Greater Helsinki by 0.8 per cent and by 0.5 per cent in the rest of Finland from the previous quarter. Over the same period, prices of two-room flats went up by 0.7 per cent in Greater Helsinki and remained almost unchanged in the rest of the country. Prices of three-room and larger flats remained almost unchanged in Greater Helsinki and fell by 0.9 per cent in the rest of the country.

In the last quarter of 2012, the average price per square metre of an old dwelling in a block of flats was EUR 2,342 in the whole country, EUR 3,577 in Greater Helsinki and EUR 1,658 elsewhere in the country.

Compared with the third quarter of 2012, prices of new dwellings in blocks of flats rose by 2.4 per cent in the whole country. In Greater Helsinki, prices went up by 5.6 per cent and in the rest of Finland by 0.3 per cent. Examined by major region, prices fell most, or by 4.5 per cent, in Eastern Finland and rose fastest, or by 3.1 per cent, in Northern Finland. Compared with the corresponding period of 2011, prices of new dwellings in blocks of flats went up by 13.2 per cent in the whole country. In Greater Helsinki, prices rose by 26.4 per cent and in the rest of Finland by 4.9 per cent. Viewed by major region, prices grew most in Eastern Finland, by 8.8 per cent and slowest in Northern Finland, by 0.5 per cent.

In the last quarter of 2012, the average price per square metre of a new dwelling in a block of flats was EUR 3,913 in the whole country, EUR 5,232 in Greater Helsinki and EUR 3,299 elsewhere in the country.

According to preliminary data, prices of dwellings in old blocks of flats went up in 2012 by an average of 2.3 per cent in the whole country from the previous year. In Greater Helsinki, the rise amounted to 2.9 per cent and in the rest of the country to 1.7 per cent. In Greater Helsinki, the price per square metre of an old dwelling in a block of flats was EUR 3,543 and in the rest of Finland EUR 1,649. In 2012, the price per square metre of a new dwelling in a block of flats was EUR 4,999 in Greater Helsinki and EUR 3,181 elsewhere in the country. Compared with the previous year, prices of dwellings in new terraced houses rose in the whole country by on average 8.3 per cent. In Greater Helsinki, prices went up by 12.3 per cent and in the rest of the country by 5.6 per cent.
