Prices of old dwellings in housing companies rose in February
According to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data, prices of old dwellings in housing companies went up by 1.7 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 2.4 per cent in the rest of the country from January to February.

Compared with the corresponding period of the year before, prices rose by 2.5 per cent in Greater Helsinki and remained almost on the same level elsewhere in Finland.
In Helsinki, prices went up by slightly over two per cent in February. Compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, prices increased by four per cent in Helsinki.
In Tampere, the rise in prices has evened out during the last few months and from January to February the prices remained unchanged. Compared to the corresponding period of the year before, prices have remained at the same level. In the early part of 2018, prices rose strongly. Compared to 2015, prices have increased by around four per cent.
Preliminary data on price changes in February are based on around 480 transactions in Helsinki and on around 170 transactions in Tampere. The preliminary data comprise, on average, one-half of completed transactions of old dwellings in blocks of flats and terraced houses.

When the monthly statistics on prices of dwellings in housing companies are published, they cover approximately 50 per cent of all transactions made in the latest statistical reference month. The monthly data become revised during the following months so that the final data for the year are published in the release concerning the first quarter of the following year. Further information about data revisions can be found in separate tables. It is not recommended to use the latest month’s number of transactions when describing the activeness of trading.
