Price of electricity began to fall
The total price of electricity fell for all consumer groups in the second quarter of the year. The consumer prices of electricity began to fall after the first quarter. The prices of electricity for enterprise and corporate clients have been falling for a longer time already. The prices of district heat rose for all consumer groups, and those of transport fuels also went up in the second quarter.

The consumer prices of electricity fell by between about one and four per cent year-on year by consumer group in the second quarter. The prices of electricity for enterprise and corporate clients fell by around ten per cent year-on-year in the second quarter. The system price of the Nordic electricity exchange was 40 to 50 per cent and the area price for Finland 30 to 40 per cent lower in the second quarter than one year earlier. In the first half of the year, electricity consumption decreased by 2.4 per cent in Finland.
The consumer price of district heat was in July about three to six per cent higher, on the average, than one year previously. The price of milled peat used in heat production was three per cent higher in the second quarter of the year than twelve months earlier. The price of forest chippings fell by 0.4 per cent from one year back. The price of coal used in separate heat production fell by some four per cent. The price of natural gas was 14 per cent higher in heat production than one year earlier. The price of motor gasoline was about six per cent higher, on the average, and that of diesel oil some 11 per cent higher in the second quarter than twelve months previously.
