Open source code software used by 79 per cent of enterprises
Open source code software is used very generally in enterprises with at least ten employees. At least some open source software is used by 79 per cent of enterprises.These data were collected with an inquiry by Statistics Finland in spring 2011 and they apply to enterprises with at least ten employees.

An Internet browser is the most common open source code software used in enterprises (67%). An open source code browser is used somewhat less often in large enterprises with at least 100 employees (56%) than in smaller size categories (66–69%). Examined by economic activity, its use is clearly most common in information and communication (85%).
Open source code office software is used by 43 per cent of enterprises. It is used by 49 per cent of enterprises in the smallest size category and by 23 per cent of those in the largest size category.
An open source code operating system is also quite general and it is used by 28 per cent of enterprises. It is used more commonly in large enterprises with at least 100 employees (41%) than in enterprises of smaller size categories, where its prevalence varies from 26 to 30 per cent. Examined by economic activity, its use is clearly most common in information and communication (58%).
Sixteen per cent of enterprises sold their products on the Internet. The value of Internet sales in euros rose from the previous year by EUR two billion to EUR 17 billion, and as a proportion of enterprises' turnover it went up by 0.3 per cent to 6.4 per cent. The majority of the value of Internet sales, 81 per cent, came from trade between enterprises.
Seventy per cent of enterprises selling their products on the Internet sold goods, 41 per cent services and 16 per cent electronic products. Nearly all of these enterprises, 96 per cent, reported having sold products to Finland, 25 per cent to other EU countries and 41 per cent to other countries.
