Productivity of education grew while productivity of social work fell in 2007

Total productivity of local government education grew slightly, while total productivity of social work fell in 2007. According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland statistics on local government productivity, the total productivity of education grew by 0.2 per cent and that of social work fell by 2.5 per cent.

Both output and total input of education grew some one per cent. Total productivity was therefore almost unchanged. Output of social work grew by more than one per cent but nearly four per cent growth in total input led to a clear fell in total productivity.

The statistics are based on available preliminary data and will become revised in January 2009. The statistics are compiled at the level of the whole country and the data are not available by municipality or joint municipal board. Preliminary statistics of the productivity of health will be published on 15 September 2008.
