Retail trade sales grew by 3.8 per cent year-on-year in October
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales grew by 3.8 per cent in October from October 2011. The volume of sales, from which the impact of prices has been eliminated, went down by 0.1 per cent in retail trade over the same period. In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 4.4 per cent and in department store trade by 1.2 per cent year-on-year. In wholesale trade, sales grew by 5.7 per cent, while in motor vehicle trade sales went down by 22.2 per cent from twelve months back. In total trade, sales grew by 1.4 per cent in October.

In the January to October period, sales were up by 4.5 per cent in retail trade and by 3.9 per cent in wholesale trade on the respective period of the previous year. Motor vehicle trade sales went down by 2.2 per cent over the same period. In total trade, sales were up by 3.2 per cent in January to October on the respective period of the year before.
The indices of turnover will adopt base year 2010=100 from the January 2013 data. Data using the new base year will be published for the first time on 14 March 2013.
