Motor vehicle sales grew by 8.5 per cent in October from one year ago
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales grew by 0.8 per cent in October from October 2012. In daily consumer goods trade, sales grew by 2.4 per cent and in department store trade, sales increased by 0.6 per cent from one year ago. Wholesale trade sales went down by 1.5 per cent, but motor vehicle sales went up by 8.5 per cent from one year ago. In total trade, sales went up in October by 0.2 per cent from the corresponding period of the previous year.

In October, the sales volume in retail trade improved by 0.4 per cent and in motor vehicle trade by 8.4 per cent from one year back. In contrast, the sales volume in wholesale trade contracted by 0.7 per cent from the previous year's October. Thus, sales increased in total trade by 0.6 per cent. The volume index of sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
Total trade sales fell in January to October by 3.3 per cent year-on-year
In the January to October period, retail trade sales grew by 0.5 per cent compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 2.2 per cent and motor vehicle sales by 16.7 per cent over the corresponding period. In total trade, sales were down in January to October by 3.3 per cent on the respective period of the year before.
