Retail trade sales fell by 0.4 per cent in February from one year ago
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales decreased by 0.4 per cent in February 2014 from February 2013. In daily consumer goods trade, sales rose by 0.8 per cent, while sales in department store trade went down by 1.6 per cent from one year ago. Wholesale trade sales went down by 1.9 per cent, but motor vehicle sales went up by 9.1 per cent from one year previously. In total trade, sales went down in February by 0.1 per cent from the corresponding period of the previous year.

The sales volume in retail trade went down by 1.2 per cent in February from the previous year's February. In wholesale trade, sales volume declined by 0.5 per cent while motor vehicle sales volume grew by 9.2 per cent. Thus, sales volume increased in total trade by 0.5 per cent in February from the year before. The volume index of sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
Total trade sales were up in January to February by 0.6 per cent year-on-year
In the January to February period, sales were up by 0.1 per cent in retail trade and by 11.3 in motor vehicle trade compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. In contrast, wholesale trade sales went down by 1.3 per cent over the corresponding period. In total trade, sales were up in January to February by 0.6 per cent on the corresponding period of the year before.
