Retail trade sales grew by 0.4 per cent in March from one year ago
According to Statistics Finland, retail trade sales increased by 0.4 per cent in March from March 2014. In daily consumer goods trade, sales decreased by 0.8 per cent from the previous year. By contrast, sales in department store trade increased by 2.5 per cent. Motor vehicle sales also grew by 5.6 per cent from the year before. In wholesale trade, sales, in turn, went down by 1.3 per cent from March 2014. Sales increased in total trade by 0.1 per cent from March 2014.

In March, the sales volume in retail trade grew by 1.2 per cent and in motor vehicle trade by 5.5 per cent from one year back. In wholesale trade, the sales volume, in turn, went up by 0.5 per cent from March 2014. Thus, the volume of total sales was 1.4 per cent higher in March than one year earlier. The volume index of sales is calculated by removing the effect of price changes from the value index series.
Retail trade sales fell by 0.7 per cent in the first quarter from one year ago
In the January to March period, sales contracted by 0.7 per cent in retail trade and by 5.1 per cent in wholesale trade compared to January to March 2014. Sales in motor vehicle trade, in turn, decreased by 1.3 per cent from the corresponding period in 2014. Total trade sales went down by 3.3 per cent over the corresponding period.
