Output of the national economy fell in November

Seasonally adjusted output fell by 1.2 per cent from the month before. Adjusted for working days, output fell by 7.4 per cent from November 2008. The data derive from Statistics Finland’s Trend Indicator of Output. The data are preliminary and will become revised later.

According to revised data, output adjusted for working days diminished in October by 8.6 per cent (previously -10.4%) and the original series fell by 9 per cent (previously -10.8%) from October 2008. The revision was mainly due to an upward revision of the source data on service industries.

The series of the Trend Indicator of Output are seasonally adjusted with the Tramo/Seats method. The latest observations of the series adjusted for seasonal and random variation (seasonally adjusted and trend series) become revised with new observations in seasonal adjustment methods. Revisions especially at turning points of economic trends may be significant, which should be taken into consideration when using seasonally adjusted and trend data.
