Growth in wages and salaries sum slowed down to 3.1 per cent in December to February
The wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 3.1 per cent greater in the past December to February period than in the corresponding period twelve months before. The rate of growth slowed down from the previous December to February period during which the year-on-year growth in the wages and salaries sum was 8.6 per cent. The growth in the wages and salaries sum is mostly due to a rise in the level of earnings.
The growth in the wages and salaries sum slowed down in almost all main industries, especially in February. Growth stayed almost on level with the year before in private health and social work (11%) and in the private educational services sector (7.2%). In other industries the growth in the wages and salaries sum slowed down clearly year-on-year. In February, the wages and salaries sum fell by nearly 10 per cent in manufacturing and by close on 7 per cent in construction from twelve months back.
