Volume of goods transported by lorries decreased in the last quarter of 2008
In the last quarter of 2008, the volume of goods transported by lorries in domestic road transport decreased by 15 per cent from the corresponding quarter of 2007. These data derive from the statistics on domestic goods transport by road compiled by Statistics Finland.
A total of 106 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorries during the October to December period of 2008. The volume of transported soil materials was 50 million tonnes while that of other goods totalled 57 million tonnes. The total transport volume of lorries was 6,319 million tonne-kilometres.
