Quarterly volume of goods transported by lorries in domestic transport
In the first quarter of 2019, the total transport volume of lorries amounted to 7,6 billion tonne-kilometres, which was 18 per cent more than in the corresponding period one year earlier. Ninety-five per cent of the transport volume was transported in professional transport and 5 per cent in private transport.
The data for the statistics on goods transport by road are collected from lorry owners with a quarterly sample survey. Transported volume of goods refers to the weight of goods loaded on lorries in tonnes. Tonne-kilometre describes the volume of transport and is obtained as a product of transported volume of goods and length of transport journey.
