Turnover in service industries fell by 7.3 per cent in October to December
Total turnover generated by service industries contracted by 7.3 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2009 when compared with the respective period one year previously. In the third quarter ending in September turnover in service industries fell by 9.3 per cent from the previous year. Towards the end of the review period turnover was growing in arts, entertainment, recreation and other service activities. Services are here examined exclusive of trade and the data have been adjusted for working days by eliminating effects of calendar variations from them.
Turnover in transport and storage still fell the most, being 13.3 per cent lower in the review period than one year earlier. Turnover in professional, scientific and technical activities was 9.8 per cent lower than in the same period of the previous year. In October to December, turnover in art, entertainment and recreation grew by 5.8 per cent.
