Turnover in service industries grew by 4 per cent year-on-year in July to September
Turnover in service industries grew by 4.0 per cent in July to September from the corresponding time period of the year before. One year previously, turnover in service industries grew by 7.9 per cent. Services are here examined exclusive of trade, and the data have been adjusted for working days by eliminating the effects of calendar variations from them.
Three months' year-on-year change in turnover in services (TOL 2008)
During the third quarter of 2012, turnover in service industries grew fastest in real estate activities, where turnover increased by 7.7 per cent. The growth in professional, scientific and technical activities amounted to 6.0 per cent and in administrative and support service activities to 5.5 per cent. By contrast, turnover in other service activities decreased by 0.1 per cent year-on-year. These activities include, for instance, laundry services, hairdressing and beauty care services, as well as other personal service activities.
The indices of turnover will adopt base year 2010=100 from the January 2013 data. Data using the new base year will be published for the first time on 15 April 2013.
