Turnover in service industries grew by 1.8 per cent year-on-year in February to April

According to Statistics Finland, turnover in service industries grew by 1.8 per cent in February to April from the corresponding time period of the year before. One year previously, turnover in service industries grew by 0.6 per cent in the corresponding period. Services are here examined exclusive of trade.

In the February to April period, turnover growth was fastest in information and communication activities and in arts, entertainment and recreation. Turnover in information and communication activities grew by 5.1 per cent and in arts, entertainment and recreation by 4.7 per cent year-on-year. Turnover growth in real estate activities amounted to four per cent.

Turnover development was negative in transport and storage activities, where it decreased by 0.8 per cent from one year ago. Turnover in accommodation and food service activities contracted by 0.1 per cent from the corresponding period last year.

Industries of enterprises have been revised in the data released in July

As part of the renewal of the business statistics, uniform industries defined by the Business Register have been taken more extensively into use in the turnover and wage and salary indices starting from this statistical release. In the time series, the industry changes have been taken into consideration from the beginning of 2013. The industry corrections are visible as revised data in some of the published industries. The effects of the changes are taken into consideration in statistics production so that no breaks occur in the time series of the published index series. The interpretation of the statistics also remains unchanged in the renewal.
