Turnover in service industries increased by 4 per cent year-on-year in July to September
According to Statistics Finland, turnover in service industries grew by four per cent in July to September from the corresponding period of the year before. At that time, the increase from the previous year had been 2.4 per cent. When examined by industry, professional, scientific and technical activities (+9.1%) and administrative and support service activities (+9%) still faired best. The development of industries was positive apart from transportation and storage (-0.1%). Services are here examined exclusive of trade.
Three months' year-on-year change in turnover in services (TOL 2008)
Employment activities (+16.6%) and security and investigation activities (+15.2%) once again represented the strongest growth in the main industry of administrative and support activities. The main industry of professional, scientific and technical activities was boosted most by other professional, scientific and technical activities (+11.9%). Advertising and market research did not generate as much growth for the main industry but still increased by six per cent year-on-year.
Real estate activities have grown steadily since the beginning of the year. The average growth has been around 4 per cent.
The growth in the main industry of transportation and storage was slowed down by water transport, where turnover declined by 8.5 per cent. By contrast, warehousing and support activities for transportation grew by 1.3 per cent.
