Comprehensive schools had 570,700 pupils in 2007

According to Statistics Finland, comprehensive schools had 570,700 pupils in 2007. The number of pupils in comprehensive school fell by 1.4 per cent from the year before. Forty-nine per cent of the pupils in comprehensive school were girls and 51 per cent were boys.

There were 3,263 active comprehensive schools in autumn 2007, which was 130 schools fewer than in the year before. Municipalities ran 97 per cent of the comprehensive schools.
