Cubic volume covered by granted building permits fell by nearly five per cent in the third quarter of 2013 from last year

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Finland's statistics on building and dwelling production, in the third quarter of 2013 building permits were granted for a total of 6.9 million cubic metres, which is 4.7 per cent less than one year ago. The cubic volume covered by building permits granted for residential buildings fell by 26.2 per cent over the same period.

In the release the data indicated with an asterisk (*) are preliminary data.

The cubic volume covered by granted building permits remained in September at the same level as one year earlier.

In September 2013, building permits were granted for 2.6 million cubic metres, which is nearly the same as in September 2012.

The cubic volume covered by permits granted for residential buildings decreased by 18.6 per cent in September. The cubic volume granted for other than residential building went up by 10.9 per cent from one year ago.

The volume of newbuilding contracted in September by seven per cent from one year back

In September 2013, the constant-price value or the volume of ongoing building production decreased by 7.0 per cent year-on-year.

The volume went down by around seven per cent year-on-year in both residential building and other than residential building.
