Building costs fell by 1.9 per cent in July
Building costs were 1.9 per cent lower in July 2009 than in July 2008. Labour costs in construction rose by 2.7 per cent in the year. By contrast, prices of materials fell by 3.1 per cent and those of other inputs by 6.7 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.
From June to July, the total index of building costs remained unchanged. The prices for labour also remained unchanged from June. The prices of materials rose by 0.1 per cent, whereas those of other inputs fell by 0.6 per cent from June.
