Building costs fell by 1.0 per cent in December

Building costs were 1.0 per cent lower in December 2009 than in December 2008. Labour costs in construction rose by 2.9 per cent in the year. By contrast, prices of materials fell by 2.0 per cent and those of other inputs by 5.5 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From November to December, the total index of building costs remained unchanged. Also the prices for labour and the prices of materials remained unchanged. By contrast those of other inputs fell by 0.1 per cent from November.
