Building costs rose by 3.2 per cent in March

Building costs were 3.2 per cent higher in March 2011 than in March 2010. Labour costs in construction rose by 1.1 per cent and prices of materials by 3.7 per cent in the year. Those of other inputs rose by 6.9 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From December to January, the total index rose by 0.7 per cent. The prices for labour rose by 0.7 per cent, the prices of materials by 0.5 per cent and the prices for those of other inputs by 1.4 per cent.

The Building Cost Index is released with the new base year 2010 on 12 April 2011. The contents of the publication has changed but the main index series from earlier base years are continued.
