Corrected release 09/2020: Building costs fell by 0.9 per cent in September year-on-year

Data of the building cost index has been corrected from May 2020 to October 2020. Further information in this newsletter .

According to Statistics Finland, building costs fell by 0.9 per cent in September 2020 compared with the previous year. Labour costs fell by 1.2 per cent and prices of materials by 1.0 per cent. The prices of services went up by 0.5 per cent from one year back.

Long term development of the Building Cost Index

From August to September, the total index of building costs grew by 0.4 per cent. Labour costs went up by 1.1 per cent and the prices of services by 0.4 per cent. The prices of materials went down by 0.2 per cent from the previous month.
