Cubic volume of granted building permits fell by a quarter in early 2009
In January to March 2009, building permits were granted for a total of 7.5 million cubic metres, which is 25 per cent less than one year ago. The cubic volume covered by residential building permits decreased by good one-third from twelve months back. The cubic volume of permits for industrial and warehouse buildings almost halved from one year ago. By contrast, the cubic volume covered by permits for agricultural buildings grew clearly from last year's January to March period.
In March 2009, building permits were granted for a total of around three million cubic metres, which is 7 per cent less than one year previously.
