Producer Price Indices in October 2007
Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 1.7 per cent, export prices by 1.3 per cent and import prices by 2.0 per cent from October 2006 to October 2007. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 3.5 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index amounted to 2.9 per cent.
The increase in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly attributable to risen prices of oil products and timber from October 2006. The rise in the prices was curbed by lower prices of electric energy.
From September to October, producer prices for manufactured products went up by 0.7 per cent. The increase in prices was attributable to higher prices of oil products, among other things. The rise of prices was curbed by a fall in the prices of paper.
