Producer Price Indices in November 2009
According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products fell by 5.6 per cent, export prices by 7.1 per cent and import prices by 6.1 per cent from November 2008 to November 2009. The basic price index for domestic supply fell by 5.5 per cent in the year. The year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was -6.0 per cent.
Among the reasons for the fallen producer prices for manufactured products were reductions in the prices of metals and chemicals from last year's November. The fall in the prices was slowed down by risen prices of non-ferrous metals, copper in particular, and by the risen cost of district heat.
From October to November, producer prices for manufactured goods went up by 0.6 per cent. The rise in the prices came especially from increased prices of metals.
