Producer prices for manufactured products rose by 5.5 per cent in the year

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products rose by an average of 5.5 per cent from August 2010 to August 2011. Producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose by 6.9 per cent, while the producer prices of export industries went up by 3.9 per cent.

The export price index rose by 4.1 per cent and the import price index by 6.6 per cent in the year. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 6.7 per cent and the year-on-year change in the wholesale price index was 8.0 per cent.

The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was especially caused by increased prices of oil products and chemicals, as well as iron and steel from the previous year's August. The rising of the prices was curbed above all by falls in the prices of pulp.

From July to August, producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.1 per cent. The fall was mainly due to decreased prices of oil products and metals from the previous month.
