Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.9 per cent in October

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 0.9 per cent from October 2012 to October 2013. The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose by 0.1 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 2.2 per cent.

Producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, manufacture of basic metals, chemicals and chemical products from last year's October. The fall in producer prices was slowed down especially by higher prices of district heat, electricity and food.

The Export Price Index fell by 2.2 per cent and the Import Price Index by 3.6 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 1.0 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply, Including Taxes remained unchanged, on average.

Export prices declined especially due to lower prices of oil products and manufacturing of basic metals from the previous year's October. The falling of the prices was curbed particularly by higher prices of machinery and equipment and electronic appliances. The fall in import prices was especially caused by lower prices of crude oil and oil products compared with last year's October. The fall in the prices was particularly curbed by risen price of electricity.

From September to October, producer prices for manufactured products went down by 0.4 per cent. The fall was mainly due to decreased prices of oil products and chemicals and chemical products.
