Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 0.5 per cent year-on-year in July

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 0.5 per cent from July 2013 to July 2014. The producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market went down by 0.5 per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 0.4 per cent.

Producer prices for manufactured products went down especially due to reductions in the prices of oil products, electricity and paper and board products from last year's July. The fall in producer prices was particularly curbed by risen prices of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals.

The Export Price Index fell by 0.7 per cent and the Import Price Index by 0.7 per cent in the year. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply went down by 0.7 per cent. The Basic Price Index for Domestic Supply including taxes fell by 0.5 per cent.

Export prices were, in particular, depressed by the falling prices of oil products and basic iron and steel from July last year. The fall in the prices was particularly curbed by risen prices of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals. The fall in import prices was in turn especially caused by lower prices of oil products, chemicals and chemical products from last year's July. The fall in the prices was particularly held back by risen prices of basic precious metals and other non-ferrous metals.

From June to July, producer prices for manufactured products remained unchanged on the average.
