Calculation method of revisions to long-term annual changes is altered

The calculation method of revisions to long-term annual changes describing data revisions will be altered starting from data concerning the statistical reference year 2016. The data describing revisions to annual changes are based on the point of time when the final annual data are completed. This makes it possible to take better account of enterprises’ final classification data for the statistical reference period, for example. Final data on enterprises are completed at the end of the year following the statistical reference year. In addition, revisions of annual data are based uniformly on the official annual data, that is, the latest structural business and financial statement statistics. The new calculation method describing revisions of data will be taken into account starting from the data published in January 2018.

Previously, revisions of data were monitored starting from the first month of the statistical reference year over seven months, when the periodic tax return data used as the source had been almost completely supplemented. However, after this, changes could occur in the data, whose effects were left unnoticed due to the calculation method.

The change has no effect on the published index series or their interpretation.

The tables describing data revisions can be found under Revisions in these statistics on the homepage of the statistics.
