Road traffic accidents claimed 15 lives in February
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 296 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in February. In them, 15 persons were killed and 409 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 7 lower and that of persons injured 86 lower than in February 2008.
Of the persons who were killed, 9 travelled by passenger car and 1 by van. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 5. Among those who died,12 were men and 3 were women.
A total of 721 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to February period. In them,38 persons were killed and 970 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 4 lower and that of persons injured 111 lower than in the corresponding period of 2008. Of the person who were killed, 24 travelled by passenger car, 4 by van and 2 by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 8.
