Road traffic accidents claimed 17 lives in February
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 363 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in February. In them, 17 persons were killed and 472 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 4 lower and that of persons injured 10 higher than in February 2011.

Of the persons who were killed, 13 travelled by passenger car and 1 by lorry. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 2. In addition, 1 other road user was killed. Among those who died, 14 were men and 3 were women.
A total of 790 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to February period. In them, 44 persons were killed and 1,019 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 7 higher and that of persons injured 63 higher than in the corresponding period of 2011. Of the persons who were killed, 33 travelled by passenger car, 1 by lorry, 1 by van and 1 by bus or coach. Pedestrians killed numbered 6. In addition, 2 other road users were killed.
