Road traffic accidents claimed 15 lives in April
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 311 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in April. In them, 15 persons were killed and 399 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 4 higher and that of persons injured 50 lower than in April 2011.

Of the persons who were killed, 10 travelled by passenger car. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered 3 and cyclists 2. Among those who died, 11 were men and 4 were women.
A total of 1,385 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to April period. In them, 81 persons were killed and 1,759 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 18 higher and that of persons injured 120 lower than in the corresponding period of 2011. Of the person who were killed, 58 travelled by passenger car, 2 by van, 2 by lorry, 1 by bus or coach, 1 by motorcycle and 1 by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 10 and cyclists 2. In addition, 4 other road users were killed.
