Road traffic accidents claimed 20 lives in September
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 536 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in September. In them, 20 persons were killed and 657 persons injured. The number of persons killed was three higher and that of persons injured 13 lower than in September 2013.

Of the persons who were killed, nine travelled by passenger car, one by van, one by lorry and two by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered four and cyclists two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 15 were men and five were women.
A total of 3,969 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to September period. In them, 165 persons were killed and 4,992 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 29 lower and that of persons injured 86 higher than in the corresponding period of 2013. Of the persons who were killed, 86 travelled by passenger car, eight by van, three by lorry, 17 by motorcycle and two by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 21 and cyclists 21. In addition, seven other road users were killed.
