Road traffic accidents claimed 17 lives in June
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 457 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 17 persons were killed and 579 persons injured. The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 33 higher than in June 2014.

Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by passenger car and two by van. Cyclists killed in road traffic accidents numbered two. In addition, two other road users were killed. Among those who died, 13 were men and four were women.
A total of 2,149 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to June period. In them, 114 persons were killed and 2,709 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 19 higher and that of persons injured 113 lower than in the corresponding period of 2014. Of the persons who were killed, 74 travelled by passenger car, seven by van, two by lorry and four by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed numbered 13 and cyclists eight. In addition, six other road users were killed.
