Road traffic accidents claimed 17 lives in December
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 428 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in December. In them, 17 persons were killed and 554 persons injured. The number of persons killed was eight lower and that of persons injured 83 lower than in December 2014.

Of the persons who were killed, 13 travelled by passenger car and one by van. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists one. Among those who died, 10 were men and seven were women.
A total of 5,147 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in the January to December period. In them, 257 persons were killed and 6,373 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 33 higher and that of persons injured 304 lower than in the corresponding period of 2014. Of the persons who were killed, 155 travelled by passenger car, 13 by van, five by lorry, 20 by motorcycle and one by moped. Pedestrians killed numbered 30 and cyclists 24. In addition, nine other road users were killed.
