Road traffic accidents claimed 23 lives in July
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 453 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July. In them, 23 persons were killed and 566 persons injured. The number of persons killed was one higher and that of persons injured 118 lower than in July 2015.

Of the persons who were killed, 14 travelled by passenger car, two by van, four by motorcycle and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 20 were men and three were women.
A total of 2,548 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to July period. In them, 126 persons were killed and 3,205 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 14 lower and that of persons injured 231 lower than in the corresponding period of 2015. Of the persons who were killed, 86 travelled by passenger car, eight by van, nine by motorcycle, two by moped and four by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered nine and cyclists five. In addition, three other road users were killed.
