Road traffic accidents claimed 16 lives in June
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 403 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in June. In them, 16 persons were killed and 513 persons injured. The number of persons killed was seven lower and that of persons injured 88 lower than in June 2016.

Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by passenger car, one by van, one by moped and one by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered one and cyclists one. Among those who died, 12 were men and four were women.
A total of 1,977 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to June period. In them, 109 persons were killed and 2,514 persons injured. The number of persons killed was three lower and that of persons injured 127 lower than in the corresponding period of 2016. Of the persons who were killed, 68 travelled by passenger car, six by van, two by moped, three by motorcycle and four by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 14 and cyclists five. In addition, seven other road users were killed.
