Road traffic accidents claimed 25 lives in July
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 458 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in July. In them, 25 persons were killed and 589 persons injured. The number of persons killed was three higher and that of persons injured 53 higher than in July 2017.

Of the persons who were killed, 13 travelled by passenger car, one by van, one by moped and seven by motorcycle. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists one. Among those who died, 21 were men and four were women.
A total of 2,383 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to July period. In them, 114 persons were killed and 3,028 persons injured. The number of persons killed was 17 lower and that of persons injured 29 lower than in the corresponding period of 2017. Of the persons who were killed, 75 travelled by passenger car, two by van, three by moped, 18 by motorcycle and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered eight and cyclists three. In addition, four other road users were killed.
