Road traffic accidents claimed 26 lives in October
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, 377 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in October. In them, 26 persons were killed and 434 persons injured. The number of persons killed was four higher and that of persons injured 29 lower than in October 2017. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Of the persons who were killed, 20 travelled by passenger car and one by van. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists three. Among those who died, 16 were men and 10 were women.
A total of 3,616 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to October period. In them, 185 persons were killed and 4,478 persons injured. The number of persons killed was three higher and that of persons injured 141 lower than in the corresponding period of 2017. Of the persons who were killed, 117 travelled by passenger car, four by van, three by moped, 23 by motorcycle, one by lorry and four by bus. Pedestrians killed numbered 15 and cyclists 13. In addition, five other road users were killed.
