Forty three thousand fewer employed persons and 10,000 fewer unemployed persons than one year ago

According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, there were 43,000 fewer employed persons and 64,000 more persons in the inactive population in July 2013 than a year earlier. The weak labour market situation does not encourage people to seek work actively. This is also visible as an increase in the inactive population. The number of unemployed persons in July 2013 was 183,000, which was 10,000 lower than one year ago. The unemployment rate was 6.6 per cent, having been 6.9 per cent in July of the year before.
