Gross domestic product grew by 4.9 per cent in 2006
According to Statistics Finland's revised preliminary data, the volume of Finland's GDP grew by 4.9 per cent in 2006. The growth was the fastest since 2000. GDP was EUR 167 billion in 2006.
According to the first preliminary data published in March, growth in GDP was 5.5 per cent in 2006 and according to the data published in July 5.0 per cent. The data published now are still preliminary and they will become final in 2009.
Demand in the national economy was again in 2006 pushed up most by exports; the volume of exports grew by 11.8 per cent. The volume of consumption grew by 3.1 per cent and that of investments by 4.7 per cent. The volume of imports went up by 7.8 per cent.
In 2005 the volume of GDP grew by 2.8 per cent, when the growth was earlier estimated to be 2.9 per cent. The national accounts of the years 1975-2004 were also revised but not GDP (look: methodological descriptions).
