A total of 22,300 university degrees were attained in 2007

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 22,300 university degrees were attained in Finland in 2007. This is 15 per cent more than in the year before. Of the total number, 5,900 were lower and 13,900 higher university level degrees. Completed degrees at the doctorate level numbered 1,500. Women completed 63 per cent of all university degrees.

Examined by field of education, the largest numbers of degrees were attained in humanitities and in technology. Women completed 82 per cent of all degrees in humanities whereas men attained 75 per cent of all degrees in science and technology.

Foreign students completed 820 degrees, of which 23 per cent were at the doctorate level. Foreign students attained the largest numbers of degrees in science and technology, and in natural sciences. Women attained 43 per cent of all degrees completed by foreign students.
