A total of 29,100 university degrees were attained in 2010

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 29,100 university degrees were attained in Finland in 2010. Of the degrees attained in 2010, 12,400 were lower university degrees and 14,400 higher university degrees. Completed degrees at the doctorate level numbered 1,500. Foreign citizens attained 1,200 degrees. Women completed 58 per cent of all university degrees.

1) From 2010 onwards, the data on numbers of university degrees also include the National Defence University.

The number of degrees increased by 22 per cent from the previous year. The large variation in the number of degrees between 2008 and 2010 is explained by the university degree revision. The transition period for the degree revision ended in summer 2008, apart from the fields of technology and medicine, where it ended in summer 2010.
